The wise and foolish virgins
I've been spending a lot of time in Matthew 25 lately. There's this parable there about what the Kingdom of Heaven will be like. And then Jesus starts talking about these wise and foolish virgins who go out to meet the bridegroom.
Eventually, I was inspired to write my own transliteration of the parable. I would love for you to leave a comment with your input.
The Second Coming is going to be like some Christians who took their Bibles and went out to meet Jesus. Half of them were hypocrites and half were humble. The hypocrites took their Bibles but did not take the Spirit with them. The humble, however, took their Bibles and the Spirit.
Jesus took longer to get there than they expected, so they all took a nap. Finally the announcement came that Jesus had arrived.
As they got ready to go, it finally dawned on the hypocrites that they had unconfessed sin in their life. They realized that they had been doing some of the right things, but not because they had a true faith in Christ. They then said to the humble, "Share some of the Spirit with us!"
The humble answered, "No, all the grace we have is exactly how much we need to cover our own unrighteous living. You need to start praying to God for mercy on your souls."
But it was too late. While they were trying to make up with God, Jesus had already left with his true church.
And the moral of the story is this: Don't give up. Persevere in your faith, because at just the right time, Jesus will return!
