Faith = Confidence!

This story/prayer request comes from Merrily, one of our Team Members in Seattle. Enjoy...

Steve (her son) has an opportunity to buy an animal daycare which he wants to use not only as a daycare, but to partner with an organization called Golden Ears. They train guide and service dogs for the deaf. Steve has always been interested in doing something like this and Golden Ears is excited about the possibility of having a second facility and working with Steve. I felt like God had led as I prayed, to find Golden Ears and to have them be so enthusiastic. The problem is the same as yours and so many others - money! I prayed about that and felt led to pursue a grant. I read about them and downloaded a booklet of forms and directions on how to write a grant, but I was having difficulty writing it - it seemed overwhelming. I was soon leaving for Minnesota, so I prayed that God would seat me next to a professional grantwriter on the plane. I missed the first flight I tried to get on (I fly standby since Andrea (her daughter) works for Horizon and I can go free if I go standby), but got on the next one. I was seated next to a couple and knew I had to ask the question even though I felt a little silly. When I asked if either of them was a professional grantwriter, they looked stunned and the wife said, "why yes, my husband is!" :) I then told them about my prayer and they were awed that they were the answer to my prayer! (turns out they were Christians from Federal Way) So her husband helped me all the way to Denver and thought I had a pretty good chance of getting it - thought it was a good idea. His wife said of course I would get it since God was obviously with me! So when I got home, I finished writing it and sent 42 proposals to foundations last week. The problem I found myself having was completely trusting that God is going to do this, even though He's already done something magnificent, and my lack of faith frustrates me. Even the guy at the cleaners said yesterday that I should not be doubting, that I was definitely getting the grant and all I needed to do was wait. Said he had goosebumps over the answer on the plane and that should leave no doubt. So when I read your letter, Wade, your faith = confidence touched me and I felt God was speaking to me again as I keep asking Him for help with this - I want to delight Him with my faith! (Maybe this is why I didn't read your July report until tonight - God knew I would need it now!) This morning I felt He was saying to not keep talking to people about my doubts, but to reject each thought of it and choose to believe. So that's what I'm going to do now, but I wanted to share that with you. So many people have already been touched by the answered prayer on the plane, so the completion of the answer will, I believe, cause many to believe.

Lisamarie visits!

Our friend Lisamarie has returned for a week visit, and we are so glad to see her! She is halfway through her program to help her see the truth about eating disorders. What an example she is to us in perseverance, even when it is hard – really hard. Please keep praying for her to finish strong!

Urgent Prayer Request

To make a long story short, we have had neighbors (Bern and Donna) move in up here where we are currently living. They have been here about three months, and are a great Christian family. They originally moved up here because they felt that God wanted him to attend a Bible school here in Colorado Springs to become a preacher.

Well, they have not been able to find good work up here, and the real problem is that their house in McKinney, Texas, (Dallas) is not selling. In fact, as they have been to short on income to make payments, they were just served with foreclosure papers. The house is at 3604 Ironwood Dr, and they have dropped the price all the way to $137,900. Please PRAY that the house will sell in the next two weeks.

They also would like prayers for Bern to be able to work the day shift at his job, and that Donna would be able to find work to do from home while watching their kids.

Lastly, please pray for them both to continue to grow in the knowledge of the Lord, and for peace to continue in their lives regardless of circumstances. THANKS.

Amy's prayer answered

Remember Amy, who we were praying about from the July 2005 Divine Appointments? She had a cold, and I told her I would be praying for her.

Well, tonight I saw her again at Safeway. I asked her how her cold turned out. She couldn’t figure out who I was until I told her that I was the one who was praying for her. Then she remembered. She said it was the strangest thing – she did lose her voice, but never really got the cold!! Hhhmm, imagine that! So of course I asked, “Well! What else can I pray for??” Her response was that she was going to be moving this next weekend, and would like prayers for that.

Please send up a prayer, that the move would go smoothly on August 6-7, and more importantly that God would reveal himself to Amy.
